JUMPING FOR JOY JANUARY AND FUNDING FEBRUARY at The Dance Network Association
MASS CHOREOGRAPHY - Dance Rio
We saw our first two teacher training sessions for Keeping Dance Alive 2016: Dance Rio.
One in Essex and one in Barking and Dagenham (B&D)
Elaine Burgess our funder for B&D said that it was one of the best days she had delivered in 13 years of her role.
Other comments:
"Very clear structure, great pace, was able to learn the dance quicker than thought"
"Very well organised can see the time and effort that has been spent creating the piece - thank you"
You have unfortunately missed our fabulous teacher training day but its still not to late to join us. We can still offer the workshop package with our Lead Artists and they can work through the delivery with you across 3 x 2 hour sessions for more information on #DanceRIo please see the webpage
FUNDING
We have been lucky enough to receive funding from CHP foundation and Chelmsford City Council to ensure our elders project can run until July 2016 with our dance specialist Louise Klarnett for more details about our classes see the webpage
Louise and I went into class on Thursday to tell them the good news and they were over the moon.
But as you know project funding is short and does not offer longevity to our older adults and this programme is so supportive to all our participants in older age.
Dont take my word for it have a read here from our dancer and writer Frances Maynard
LET THE DANCE GO ON
Another year has passed, we're back to demonstrate
Another year of dance we've come to celebrate
With old friends and new, once again gathered here
Old moves and new, together we will share.
Louise's enthusiasm has once again cast its spell
Bringing us music and dance, aches and pains to dispel
Our Thursday meetings she fills with laughter and fun.
Knowing that inside each of us is a heart still young
Our joints may be creaky and our limbs a bit slow
We certainly couldn't manage the local disco
But in our own way we get down and get with it
We don't let age deter us, our very best we give it.
Morning and afternoon dancers, united this evening
To demonstrate just how much we're achieving
And how much these dance sessions mean to us all
Helping body and mind with movement and recall.
Age can be isolating, with ill health and loneliness to bear
It doesn't take too much to show us that you care
Our dance brings us laughter, joy and friendship too
It's the greatest wish of us all that it will continue to.
This evening we have performed for your pleasure
To show our appreciation and how much we treasure
What we have gained through the magic of dance
And say a huge thank you to all who give us this chance

Frances read this out in our sharing in December 2015 and much thanks go to her for her wonderful poems and explainations of how much the sessions have filled her life with joy.
